A basic introduction to neurodiversity + anxiety for PDI’s & ADI’s in collaboration with Kevin & Tracey Field - the founders behind the award winning Confident Drivers training group.

This full-day event consists of four 90-minute sessions designed to enhance understanding and skills in supporting neurodiverse, anxious, or nervous students.

Arrival Refreshments.

9:30 AM – 11:00 AM
Session One: Neurodiversity Awareness (CPD Accredited)

  • A foundational course introducing neurodiversity conditions and their impact on learning to drive.

11:15 AM – 12:45 PM
Session Two: Neurodiversity and Anxiety

  • Explore the connections between neurodiversity and anxiety.

  • Engage in practical, experiential exercises to better understand different thought and information-processing styles.

12:45 PM – 1:30 PM
Lunch

  • Lunch is provided and included in the ticket price.

1:30 PM – 3:00 PM
Session Three: Mindfulness Basics for Instructors and Students

  • Learn what mindfulness is (and isn’t) and its benefits for driving instructors and students.

  • Practical strategies to incorporate mindfulness into lessons, focusing on attention and resets without traditional meditation.

  • The approach is straightforward, emphasizing application during driving sessions.

3:15 PM – 4:45 PM
Session Four: Supporting Nervous and Anxious Students

  • Interactive exploration of three key areas:

    1. Asking effective questions.

    2. Understanding the brain and anxiety.

    3. Confidence-building strategies.

  • Participants will brainstorm and discuss these topics to develop actionable insights.

This event promises a mix of informative content, practical exercises, and interactive discussions to support driving instructors in their work with neurodiverse and anxious learners.
